Online session on "Lightning and Thunderstorm Early Warning Systems" by expert from ASDMA
Jointly organized by RI, Keio University, and Loreto College, this was a 30-hour blended training program designed to build technical and practical skills in multi-hazard early warning systems (EWS). Aligned with the Sendai Framework and India’s national disaster management strategies, it combines theory, hands-on GIS and hazard mapping, app-based alerts, and field exposure. Participants engaged with institutions such as the IMD and State Disaster Management Authorities, learning to interpret forecasts, design inclusive dissemination strategies, and strengthen community-based preparedness for both sudden and slow-onset disasters, including climate-induced risks.
